Subject: Public Works Jobs Requiring 10
Hour OSHA Certification
In July 2007, Governor Elliot Spitzer signed
legislation mandating that all contractors who are awarded public works
contracts of $250,000.00 or more may only employ job site personnel that have
completed the 10 hour OSHA construction safety and health training class.
This legislation will go into effect in July 2008.
In order to meet this requirement, I am asking
you to reach out to your membership and encourage them to register for this
training. The Labor Technical College will schedule additional 10 hour
OSHA courses in order to insure that our members are certified and that the New
York District Council of Carpenters maintains its jurisdiction in the
workplace.
To register, members must call the Labor
Technical College at (212) 727-2224. Members will be scheduled for
training on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Don't wait for the law to go into effect in July
2008. Register now and receive your certification to be employed on
public works jobs in the future.
